About the California AB 1825 Law

  • California AB 1825 went into effect August 17, 2007.
  • Companies with 50+ employees must train all supervisory employees. They must be retrained every 2 years.
  • SB 1343 (effective 1/1/2021) expands the requirement to companies with 5+ employees, covering both supervisory and non-supervisory employees.
  • Training must cover abusive behavior prevention (AB 2053) and harassment based on gender identity and sexual orientation (SB 396).
  • Online training is a convenient, fully compliant option throughout California.

All supervisory employees in California for any company with 50+ employees. Effective 1/1/2021, all supervisory and non-supervisory employees at companies with 5+ employees must complete training. Supervisors complete a 2-hour course; non-supervisory employees complete a 1-hour course.

Anyone with significant authority over others โ€” including the ability to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, fire, promote, assign, reward, or discipline employees. Your business title does not determine supervisor status; these nine criteria do.

Employees promoted to supervisor must complete training within 6 months of assuming that supervisory role.

The training is highly interactive and engaging โ€” users navigate through real-life workplace scenarios. Our HR experts develop culturally and socially relevant content. Employees can pause and resume at any time; all progress is saved.

  1. Purchase one or more training licenses.
  2. Allocate the training to each supervisor in your admin dashboard.
  3. Supervisors complete the training and pass a 10-question final test.
  4. Download and print the Certificate of Completion. Admins can access all employee certificates.
